The Fundementals

Jumping classes build upon English riding skills, focusing on developing a safe and effective partnership between horse and rider to navigate jumps. Precision, timing, and clear communication are essential.

Key Elements 🐴

  • Approach and Stride - Developing a consistent and balanced approach to the jump is crucial. Riders must assess the correct distance and manage their horse's stride to ensure a smooth takeoff.

  • Takeoff and Landing - The rider's position is vital for maintaining balance and ensuring the horse’s safety, enabling a sure takeoff and a soft landing.

  • Obstacle Management - Riders guide their horse through various types of jumps—such as poles, crossrails, and fences—with accuracy and confidence.

  • Course Management - Successfully riding a jumping course requires careful planning and precision, incorporating proper pacing and strategic choices to navigate the course safely and efficiently.

Evaluation Requirements for Participation

Participants who have previously jumped at 5 day and are in the same level and with the same equine do not need a new evaluation before registering.  However, ALL Participants must at a minimum send a video evaluation before the clinic begins to assure proper class placement.  Participants moving levels and/or equines must have a new evaluation before registering.  These new evaluations are recommended to be done in person but can also be done via video.
