RANCH RIDING

The Fundementals

Ranch Riding emphasizes practical skills and adaptability, fostering confidence and teamwork through a series of skills that reflect real-world ranch scenarios, enhancing both rider and horse performance.

Key elements 🐴

  • Skill Precision - Riders practice refining their reining and ranch riding techniques, focusing on achieving smooth and accurate movements.

  • Clear Communication - Clear cues and body language play a vital role in guiding the horse.

  • Adaptability - Adjusting approach based on the horse's unique strengths and temperament, encouraging flexibility and problem-solving in various riding situations encountered on the ranch.

Evaluation Requirements for Participation

To ensure the safety and proper skill placement of all participants, the following youth must have their horsemaster levels evaluated BEFORE registering for the clinic:

  • First-Time Participants: All riders joining for the first time, regardless of their horsemaster level.

  • Level Advancement: Any past participant wishing to progress to a higher horsemaster level.

  • New Horse Entries: Returning participants who will be riding a different horse.

Class Info 

Class fees are $60.00 per class

*Participants must be 8 years old by January 1st(current year) or older*

Patterns, gaits, and all activities will be at discretion of the instructor and may vary in order to maintain safety. Please be sure that your horse and you fit the criteria for the class.

Ranch Riding 3/4/5

For riders with intermediate to advanced skills.

 

Class Overview

This class focuses on teaching beginning reining and ranch riding skills. Participants will practice precise patterns including circles, spins, and stops, while also having the opportunity to engage in activities such as roping and sorting on horseback.

Fundamental Skills:

  • Understanding basic reining techniques

  • Developing control and communication with the horse

Gait Techniques:

  • Controlled walking, trotting, and cantering as needed

Advanced Skills:

  • Execution of precise maneuvers and patterns 

Exercises and Drills:

  • Practice of ranch riding patterns and reining exercises

  • Roping and sorting techniques as directed by the instructor

Level 3 or 4 or 5 - Mounted Skills
